All of our physical and health courses are intentionally “non-gendered” to promote a climate of inclusiveness within our community and educate about gender openly. We continuously run clothing, shoe and food drives to provide items of necessity for our active students who may not have financial access or stability. We also have an increasing number of students immigrating where English is not their first language, and our active classes provide them with opportunities to engage with all students in the school, and we run an extensive intramural program which is very accessible and participated in by many students new to our area. Our curricular programs are taught from a global perspective, where we introduce students to a variety of sports, games and cultures from around the world, including activities that expose students to activities from marginalized groups such as indigenous games, adaptive games, and other under-represented groups. Performance metrics, physical adaptability, healthy aging – all concepts that were once foreign, are now commonplace. The health industry continues to grow exponentially and with it the associated opportunities. All pathways have growing opportunities in the health and recreation realm. Both the development as an athlete, and developing other athletes has become a booming industry. The ability to focus on the sports aspect of healthy performance allows a student to specialize their learning beyond the generic umbrella of healthcare.

Kingston and area has an aging population, well above the national and provincial average, and unlike generations of the past, they are fit and active, just try and book a pickleball court and you'll experience this. Opportunities at all levels will continue to grow: Kinesiologists, Recreation coordinators, local sports centres, performance coaches - will all see an increase in demand as we continue to prioritize health and activity.
