The Limestone Skills Competition is the lead-up to the Skills Ontario events that happen in early May each year. The gold medal winners from the Limestone event may be offered the opportunity to represent the LDSB at the Ontario Skills Competition. More information will be shared at the awards ceremony following the Limestone event.
The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best in their field. Over three days, student competitors impress their educators, family, friends, and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition. From there, competitors could be headed to the WorldSkills Competition.
Student Fee Information
Dear Students and Families,
The Limestone Skills Competition provides an opportunity for participating students to showcase talent and skill in a variety of trades and technical fields. This competition not only provides students with a platform to demonstrate their abilities but also allows them to gain valuable experience in their chosen fields. Students who participate in the Limestone Skills Competition will compete at the local level. The registration cost is $25, which helps cover the cost of material and expenses associated with the local event.
Following the Limestone Skills Competition, some students may qualify to advance to the Provincial Skills Competition in Toronto. Participation in the Provincial Skills Competition requires separate registration, with an additional cost of $150 for elementary students, and $250 for secondary students. The fee helps to cover:
- Hotel accommodation for the duration of the event (secondary students stay two nights in Toronto, elementary students stay one night)
- Transportation costs to and from Toronto
- One team dinner to provide an opportunity for students to connect and unwind together
- Registration fees to compete at the provincial level.
Students and families can reach out to Courtney Soucy, Geoff Petznick or Paul Allison (Skills Competition Planning Committee) if you have questions, or need information about available financial support. Please e-mail us at ldsbskills@limestone.on.ca
We are excited to offer this opportunity and wish all participants the best of luck as they prepare for this incredible experience. We look forward to seeing students represent their skills and enthusiasm in the competition.
Thank you,
Skills Competition Planning Committee
